The Studio and the Artisans

THE STUDIO

Outside the Box Studios, the creators of the smoking pipes and accessories represented on the Smoker's Pipeline web site, is located in Redmond, Washington, just 20 minutes outside of Seattle. The studio grew from an idea four years ago into the creative co-op it is today.

Many of our designs are influenced by growing up here in the Pacific Northwest. Wood and glass oriented, with a comfortable finish, these pipes and accessories are designed around the idea of creating pieces that are artistic, yet durable for everyday functionality.

Our goal is to offer craft pipes in a way they've never been seen before. Briarwood has long held the privilege of being the top wood to smoke out of, but has had itself restricted to the same image for so long. Our goal was to elevate this elegant material to the 21st century, combining it with glass for an unbeatable smoke. After combining the two ideal pipe making materials, we’ve sourced exotic, imported hardwoods to adorn the pipe. Each one has a storied origin, which you can click here to learn more about.

The pipes and accessories we create focus on a contaminant free and true smoke. By true smoke, we mean one that does not distract from the natural flavors you're smoking. By contaminant free we mean focusing on exposing the smoke to natural materials that do not contain contaminants or have the possibility to release contaminants if heated.

THE ARTISANS

Darin

 Darin

An entrepreneur and business owner over the past four decades, he has combined his love for small business sales and growth with the creative side. Born in to a family of both business people and artists, he brings to the studio the administrative and sales organization, technical skills and red tape navigation that allows for a creative venture to continue to grow. This dove tails well with a love for using combinations of unique materials to create artistic pieces that are functional and fun to talk about.

Dylan

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Dylan has found a love in the creative, directing much of his efforts into the arts. In addition to creating many of the pieces you’ll find in the shop, he uses this creative eye to be the lead social media director and photographer for the studio. He looks forward to sharing every piece that comes out of the studio, knowing it’ll end up in the hands of somebody who can appreciate its beauty and functionality.
